Welcome to the LSU College of Humanities & Social Sciences Faculty Senate website. 

The Faculty Senate of the College of Humanities & Social Sciences may exercise any power of the College Faculty, subject to review by the Faculty.  These powers include jurisdiction over all matters relating to the educational affairs of the College, subject to the regulations of the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University.  Such matters include 1) the establishment of curricula and courses, 2) academic policies of admissions to the College, and 3) requirement for degrees.  In addition, the Senate has the responsibility to initiate discussion regarding any matter of general interest to the College and to make recommendations regarding such matters to the dean and to the College Faculty. 

Any member of the College Faculty may attend meetings of the College Senate and bring business before the Senate.  College Faculty who wish to bring business before the Senate are encouraged to do so via their departmental representative to the Senate or the College Senate Steering Committee.
