Raynold Lyngdoh, a seasoned professional in the realm of global travel, safety, and security with many years of experience supporting the safety, mobility, and resilience of organizations and higher education institutions, will oversee the newly established office of Global Travel, Safety, and Security (GTSS), effective January 12.

Lyngdoh most recently served as director of security services for On Call International, an agency that provides global emergency assistance and travel risk management to academic, non-profit, and the business sector.

“I am thrilled to have Ray as our inaugural director of global travel. He brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of the nuances of international travel and safety, having worked with various institutions across the United States,” said Samba Dieng, Senior International Officer.

“Internationalizing a campus such as LSU without a strong risk infrastructure hinders our ability to advance bold strategies related to global mobility, and Ray is committed to elevating LSU as a gold standard in the field of travel and safety,” said Dieng.

As a former international student from India, Lyngdoh earned his bachelor's degree in Indiana. His lived experience as a foreign student in the US brings a unique perspective to his inaugural role as Director of the GTSS office.

“I'm thrilled to join LSU as the Director of Global Travel, Safety, and Security to lead efforts in ensuring the well-being of our constituents traveling around the world,” Lyngdoh said.

“Supporting our travelers as they pursue global experiences, research, and partnerships is a privilege that directly strengthens LSU's mission to increase global engagement,” he said. “I look forward to advancing a culture of preparedness, care, and confidence for all LSU members going overseas.”

As director of GTSS, Ray Lyngdoh will lead all compliance, policy development, and procedures related to international travel, safety, and security for LSU’s students, faculty, and staff. He will coordinate with various partners on campus to develop policies and create infrastructures to support international travel.”

“Ray’s arrival could not be more timely. As we strive to increase and diversify study abroad participation, we must be mindful of the imminent geopolitical challenges affecting global mobility,” Dieng said. “Having Ray will help us create a reliable framework for international travel and safety.”

Throughout his career, Ray has held positions overseeing security analysis, consulting, and response services, with a focus on formulating and implementing high-risk travel policies, emergency action plans, and crisis response exercises. His expertise includes managing evacuations during natural disasters, political unrest, and ensuring the safety of constituents and continuity of organizational operations.

He is an active member of ASIS International and the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), maintaining a forward-looking perspective on emerging trends and best practices in global security and risk management.
