Biography
Ben Morales is the Sports Science Project Coordinator within the School of Kinesiology
and LSU Football. Morales's main role is in facilitating NFL sports science research
collaborations relating to player health and performance. This is made possible through
the integration of athlete monitoring and game analytics methods to examine changes
in athlete performance, through collaborations between Athletic Training, Performance
Innovation, and Athletic Development.
During his time at Indiana State University, he was a sports scientist assisting with
the development of the athlete monitoring programs for Men's Basketball and Football.
He also was an instructor teaching the Biomechanics Labs for the Undergraduate Exercise
Science program.
Morales completed his Master of Arts in Physical Education-Exercise Science at Indiana
State University in 2022, and his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor
in Kinesiology at Lamar University in 2019. He is currently working towards completing
his Doctorate in Kinesiology at LSU. His research involves the application of data
science techniques in sports science, and human performance to examine ways of improving
assessment processes in human movement utilizing machine learning and other applied
statistical methods.
Morales is certified through the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) following being a strength and
conditioning intern with Lamar University Football, while additionally assisting with
other Olympic Sports during his time as an intern.
He was a part of the SLC Cross Country Championship winning teams in 2016, 2017, and
2019, and competed in the 400, 800, and 4x400 relay in the track & field season. He
has four Top 10 finishes in his career including being a part of the winning 4x400
relay team at the 2017 Howie Ryan Invite.
